Alabama nursing homes to allow limited in-person visits
Posted on September 30, 2020 by [email protected]_84
Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey announced Wednesday the resumption on Oct. 2 of limited in-person visits to nursing homes more than six months after they locked down in response to coronavirus.
Each nursing home resident will be allowed one caregiver or visitor at a time. Nursing homes can only permit indoor visits if they have not had a positive coronavirus case in two weeks, according to the Alabama Nursing Home Association. Facilities can limit the total number of visitors at one time and masks and social distancing will be required.
The Alabama Nursing Home Association provided the following guidance to family members:
· Do schedule an appointment to visit with your loved one
· Do use alcohol-based hand sanitizer before, during and after your visit
· Do wear a mask covering your mouth and nose during your entire visit in the facility
· Do maintain social distance of at least six

Bay Village, Ohio
Found dog
On Sept. 21 a dog owner reported that when he went into a local coffee shop, his nine-month-old, black and tan Belgian Malinois, jumped out of the window of his parked car and took off running. Bay Village Animal Control was called to assist. Luckily, an employee at a nearby retirement home came across the dog and was able to capture it unharmed. The dog was returned to a grateful owner.
Spring is in the air, so Bay Village police find they have to remind residents of the city’s regulations regarding pets.
Altercation, Knickerbocker Road
On Sept. 25 a physical altercation was reported. Officers arrived and found that two rival concrete contractors, working just a few houses away from each other, had gotten into a physical altercation. Officers spoke with the men and found that there was bad blood between the 51-year-old Cleveland man and

Contractor killed on NC State campus construction site after equipment collapses
Posted on September 30, 2020 by [email protected]_84
A construction worker died on N.C. State University’s campus after a lift collapsed in wet ground, the state Department of Labor reported Tuesday.
The lift carrying the worker on Saturday was extended about 35 feet in the air when the dirt caved in around one of its tires, said Natalie Bouchard, DOL spokeswoman.
DPR Construction identified the subcontractor as Tiburcio Mendoza.
Campus police were called to the scene but are not investigating the incident and do not have a report, university spokesman Mick Kulikowski said. He added he believed the worker died of injuries at WakeMed.
The accident happened at the site of N.C. State’s new Plant Sciences building, a 185,000-square-foot project.
Ro Norman of DPR Construction said the worker was a subcontractor and the team is “deeply saddened.”
“Our focus continues to be the safety of all employees, workers and visitors on our job sites,” Norman said in

Coronavirus: Patients ‘not tested’ before care homes return
Posted on September 30, 2020 by [email protected]_84
Coronavirus pandemic
Hundreds of hospital patients in Herefordshire and Worcestershire were discharged into care homes during the initial wave of the coronavirus pandemic without being tested first.
Figures obtained by the BBC show from March to May more than 200 patients were placed in care homes before it was known if they were carrying the virus.
A group representing the sector said the situation was “pretty appalling”.
The Department of Health says £1bn is being given to protect care settings.
Bev Anderson, who runs Stretton Nursing Home near Hereford, said the wave of cases “hit us so quick” early in the pandemic.
In a two-week period at the end of March and beginning of April, 25 of the 40 residents caught Covid-19, with 12

Should You Sell Your Home and Buy Another?
Posted on September 30, 2020 by [email protected]_84
Putting money in your pocket only makes sense if you’re going to be able to hold on to those funds.
2020 is one for the record books. The unemployment rate hit record highs, while interest rates hit record lows. The stock market rose to record highs, while the hospitality industry struggled through record-low demand.
You might expect that the uncertainty and recession caused by the coronavirus pandemic would have spurred the worst year ever for the housing market. However, the combination of limited numbers of homes for sale and low mortgage rates have pushed home prices up. According to Redfin, the median four-week home sales price on Sept. 13 was up 13% from 2019. If home prices in your area have surged, you may be tempted to cash in. Before you call a realtor, make sure selling is the right thing to do.
